Meet me up At Singapore 2014 - The Quetz travel- Day three - Singapore Flyer " All about conquering fear of heights" Part 1

Today, was our last day in Singapore  and also were a bit short of time as our flight from here will departs from 1635 and we've got to be in the airport by at least 1500.
So first stop was to go to Singapore Flyer.
Grateful that it opens early.Unlike other attractions, it opens by 08:30- 1030 pm daily, we were actually one of the first customer.

We prepared last night, things we need like drinks, food and other toiletries. We also packed our luggage's and just bring out the clothes to wear for today. We know that we will have no time to do all of these.

Last night, after Universal Studio we head out to the nearby food stalls to eat dinner. After wards, went to the grocery in the corner of our hotel and head back to our room. While I'm fixing our things my Munchkins was playing and jumping on the bed. Of course I told them " no jumping on the bed " my eldest  daughter stop and my second  one continues and she just bounce out and fell on the ground. She was completely flat on the floor, the floor is kind of rough (that was the designed). Hubby rushed to the grocery for ice and it was finished. Nearby food stalls who sells ice drink doesn't want to sell,  He even said that I will buy the drinks just separate the ice . Vendor replies not allowed no bribing here. Hubby went to almost all store which are still open however just able to bring cold drinks.  I just put cold drinks on her bump.. Lesson learn, when travelling with children always watched them as accidents is just around the corner.

cold drinks for bump on the head

Memes (my second daughter ) smiles after the bump on her head incident last night.
Energized for the day. Happy that my munchkins are so gullible they tend to forget the sad events and just continue for a brighter day. Hope and pray they stay like these forever.

Happy face for a new day

Daddy and daughter team.

And finally ,we are going to the Giant wheel

Strike a pose with the Mini Singapore Flyer

Up we go

Above pictures is what we saw going up the giant wheel. It's like an explanation how high, capacity of the Singapore flyer, etc. However, for me  it is like a warning how high I will go today.
Actually , I am a Acrophobia (from the Greek: ἄκρον, ákron, meaning "peak, summit, edge" and φόβος, phóbos, "fear") is an extreme or irrational fear or phobia of heights, especially when one is particularly high up.
So surreal right? My line of work is something to do with the Airline, some what close to heights . I ride an airplane every month or often for the last 18 years and yet still afraid when I can see how high I am from the ground. So today, smiling face but worried eyes (wink). I just kept telling myself that his is for my Munchkins so I must  do it.

Seeing Singapore

From afar, it seems that the 28 capsules of the Singapore Flyer is not moving. But trust me it is, I felt it in the beginning, when it ascend and descend. The number of capsules where planned with a reason. Each capsule was constructed to a size of 280 sq feet and can accommodate 28 passengers (look at the above picture of the model).

Singapore is the lion city of Asia, one of the prosperous country in Asia and will always keep up with the modern world.  Though it is a modern city, largely ethnic Chinese  has a larger population here who believes in tradition and can still sway or influence the society. Many of the locals here still believe in Feng Shui, so the 28 capsules believes to be representing prosperity and wealth. Even the rotation of the giant wheel was later on changed as per the Feng Shui master  "The original rotation was taking fortune away from the city". So now, when riding the Singapore Flyer ,the view will starts from the beaches, housing estates in the east and culminates with a vista of the businesses.

Survived

Happy look

Happy face specially me as I survived the ride. Actually it was really moving slow and will stop at the highest peak  for 10-15 minutes so we are able to take photo and enjoyed the view. I didn't feel the pressure and used my long time technique  "Never look down".
Our feedback , I survived (a person who has fear of heights),Munchkins enjoyed the fact that they are so high and can see above the buildings, Hubby love the breath taking views. For us, who has little time in the city we can say that we had a glimpse of the city and that is enough. The next time we visit the city, we know where else we need to explore.

And that's the end of our tour to the Singapore Flyer " The Quetz" rode, saw the breath taking views of the city, and enjoyed " The World's Largest Giant Observatory Wheel". Bought these souvenir photos at their gift shop. Can't remember the exact price of it only that it is quite pricey, however we bought it for the memories. Next blog is how we spent the next 3 hours before our flight.

Meet me up at Singapore 2014 - The Quetz' Travels - Day two - Universal Studio - The Child within us

On our second day at the beautiful Lion city, we decided to go to Universal Studios because of the many wonderful things to see in it. We are not even sure if we will get to finish seeing all the attractions inside. So we geared up for a whole adventurous day ahead of us... movie sets, amusement park & rides on themes from Hollywood, from animation to sci-fi, plus live entertainment.

Travel tip: Don't forget to check the weather of the place that you are going to. So you can bring the appropriate clothes to wear. When we went there, it was summer time so we just packed light clothes and for the kids, t-shirts, and shorts only. It is always better to be comfortable than to be miserable for your entire trip. Economical too, as you need not buy things to wear, not unless your main purpose for the trip was to go shopping.

Timings : Tuesday - Monday 10AM - 7PM

We arrived quite early but to our surprise, there were already a lot of people waiting at the entrance. I guess we all have the same thought of starting the day early. As they say, "the early bird catches the worm."

To free ourselves from boredom.... What else do you think we can do in that instance and at that kind of place? Take pictures, of course! so, here are a few snaps we took at the waiting area. If you will notice the background, everybody seems to be doing the same thing! Nowadays, it's like human nature!

Mr. Quetz with Munchkins buying surprise ball

Really love lookin' at this picture as I can the sisterly love in here.

Adventure starts now

It was summer time there when we visited... As in really hot!!! Lots and lots of sweat pouring down like rain while walking around the theme park. Nonetheless, we didn't falter from our purpose of sightseeing and experiencing the amazing Hollywood sets and, the utmost goal, creating awesome memories with my munchkins. With that in mind, we were all geared up for our fun-filled and exciting adventure that day! Clothes check, we were wearing light and cotton fabrics. Bags check, we just carried the essentials. Mr. Quetz bag had batteries, camera and the things he will need to capture the moments. As for me, I had Memes' (my then youngest child) bottled milk (yes, she still drank from it till late 2015), towels, bottled water, cologne, wipes, and tissues. Footwear check, we were wearing summer slippers and hubby rubber shoes. All comfy for long walks!

Here are our pictures before we entered, while it was still not crowded.

We went there on a weekday, Thursday to be exact. However, when we were queueing on some popular rides it still took us an hour to wait. So how much more on weekends? I suggest to go on off-peak days when there are no holidays and especially not on Saturdays and Sundays.

Off   to queue on our first ride

Here we are meeting some of the characters that we loved.
Munchkins, hubby and I were just overwhelmed with unadultered joy.
I guess everyone has a child within us that will never go away no matter how old one gets. Do you have that feeling as well?
Wise men say, that what you learned from childhood is what shaped you as an adult.

I want to teach my munchkins that real joy comes from simple things. Celebrate life
as this one of the gifts from our FATHER in heaven.

This picture was one of the favorites of Memes because she said King Julien (ring-tailed lemur) carried her. This is the one who sang "I like to move it, move it" from the movie Madagascar.
Memes' amazed look at Alex the lion. She can't take her eyes off him.
He is sooo big and tall with a soft heart. Teaches us that looks can be deceiving. We should not judge by the appearance of a person.

Do you remember Gloria the Hippo? She is the tertartagonist in the movie. She has a passive nature when it comes to problems and serves as the voice of reason for her friends in the zoo.

Puss in boots who has the most romantic voice and the eyes that can persuade you. He has a fondness of milk, uses his cuteness and feline prowess to get what he wants (another famous trick of his).

Shrek's castle has a 4-D movie room. It was our first time to experience -D, so we didn't know what to expect. Memes actually got scared, we even shared one seat as she wanted to go out from the cinema room. I assured her that it's just a pretense to make you feel like you're inside the movie. But later on, we recapped and actually found out that we all loved it!

Fairy godmother of the castle. Luckily, we caught her as she was about to take rest.

Jurassic Park... We didn't go inside as Memes was scared of the sounds coming from that area. They say that the ride will make you splashy wet. Next time maybe we'll be able to experience it.

Jaja as our driver in the mine ride next to the pyramid.

Though we were not allowed to go inside to ride the " Revenge of the mummy " because of height restrictions, still happy to have seen this Mummy character "Ardeth Bay". He is a Muslim descendant of the royal bodyguards. Medjai Pharaoh's sacred bodyguards. Love his character in the movie.

The entrance of the " Revenge of the Mummy "ride.
As I mentioned earlier, we were not allowed to go inside the pyramid and take the ride of "Revenge of the Mummy" as there were height restrictions for safety and security.  Actually, they have height limits for each ride. If you don't meet the following minimum requirement then you cannot take the ride.

Here are some of them:
Madagascar A Crate Adventure: 80 cm
Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase: 92 cm
Transformers The Ultimate 3D Battle: 102 cm
Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure: 108 cm
Revenge Of The Mummy: 122 cm
Battlestar Galactica:
126 cm

Dinosaur's Skeleton

For lunch, we ate at the Jurassic Cafe, it offers a variety foods to choose from like roasted chicken, burgers, personalized pizza and some local foods.

And then we continued to explore the wonderful, fun-filled and exciting place, that is, Universal Studios Singapore!!!

Battlestar Galactica Dueling Coaster

Optimus Prime in Transformers lurking behind us!

Sesame street live show

During my childhood, Sesame Street was very popular among kids! Not only was it fun but there were also lots of things to be learned from their shows aside from the cuteness all the characters bring. My munchkins didn't know who they are except for Elmo. however, after watching the show they fell in love with all of them.

Spaghetti Space ride

We also watched the dance show of the "Rockafellas Street boys". In the beginning, I told hubby they are like the street boys in Manila with the same title. He told me they were actually featured in one of the shows in the Philippines.  And they are actually the Street boys that we know of. They were very entertaining and, of course, all the famous tumblings, stunts and dance moves that only their group can do was there. The group has 5 members, can't really recall how many members they have back in the Philippines. This group has matured in a positive way, they are fitter, more confident and good-looking in each of their own ways.

Their show is a must to be watched when visiting Universal StudioS Singapore because of their good performance and mingling with the crowd is very entertaining. Proud to say that they are my kabayans who show their exceptional talents to the world and brought the name of the Philippines in Singapore. More power to this group!!!

After the Rockafellas show, we were all still so energetic and continued to stumble on so many characters as we walked along the sets and some of which we didn't even remember who they were anymore.
